Municipal Elections will be Peaceful: Bihar DM

Sasaram (District Head Quarter of Rohtas District): A Press Conference was organised by District Magistrate and Assistant Supretendent of Police where the DM said that Peaceful and Fair Municipal Elections will be ensured in all 291 Polling Centres. Several Magistrates and Police Officers have been deputed on different levels to ensure smooth elections.

Out of total 585 candidates, 2 candidiates were elected unopposed and 583 were issued identity cards for the polling purpose. Along with Ectoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC); Passport, Driving Licence, PAN Card, Photo Identity Card, Passbook with Photo, Freedom Fighter Photo Identity Card and 14 other government documents with Photo Identity will be considered valid for the voters to caste their vote.

For adhering to the Code of Conduct for elections, on district level, Senior Aditional Distric Collector Mr. Nandkishore Sah for Dehri, Mr. Venkatesh Narayan Singh for Bikramganj and Koath and Mr. Nikesh Kumar for Nokha and Nasreeganj have been deputed as Investigation Officers. Also Block Development Officer-Circle Officer and Police Station Incharge will be accountable for the Municipal Election. An appeal will also be issued to cancel the bail document for criminals/anti-social elements. All polling booths willl be guarded by security forces. Mr. Ravi Bhushan, DPRAO was also present in the press conference.

    Good to see the local administration taking these initiatives to ensure just and non biased elections. The selection of 2 candidates unopposed can be taken as positively and negatively too. If they have got acceptance from all the citizens of their areas, it is fine, but if it is for some other reason, it will impair the quality of healthy competition.
